Sunday, October 25th at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar, Sonny Boy Terry - an authentic dues paying Houston bluesman who learned at the feet of the masters won the IBC (International Blues Challenge) Houston Regional Finals. Terry brought a tight up tempo band, established original songs while playing up his deep roots and years of experience on the Houston blues scene. "This type of competition is no picnic", long time blues professional Sonny Boy Terry claims. "If you aren't 100 per cent prepared, even then you can go home empty. It's totally unpredictable".

Huge kudos for the Houston Blues Society for putting on such a classy and disciplined affair. Special thanks to all our facebook supporters. A huge congratulations to Dupree and his excellent slide guitarist for winning the solo/duo catagory for the 2009 IBC Houston Regional. An even more huge enormous thanks to the Sonny Boy Terry Band, who has won the IBC Houston Regional and is officially going on to Memphis to compete for the grand prize with 150 bands from all over the world.

Terry, Lenny, JD, and JZ of the SBT Band competed mightily at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar with some formidable talent and now will officially represent Houston, Texas in the International Blues Challenge finals coming up in January 2010 sponsored by the Blues Foundation.
